Production Company

Our film is an independent, British film and this means that there will be multiple production companies in order to generate the funding for the film. We chose these production companies because we believe that these will both fund and market our film effectively and successfully and help us be successful at film festivals and at release. The production companies we have chosen to produce our films are;
  • Antenna Pictures
  • Baby Cow Animation
  • Creative England
  • Grass Roots Media
  • TVE

Genre and Similar Films

Our film fits in the genre of a drama and it fits under the sub genre of sport. We believe that it is a drama because the film includes scenes that focus on issues such as single parenting, lack of financial support and bullying. it also includes a romantic sub plot in which the protagonist has to choose between his girlfriend and his footballing career. Examples of similar films to ours are;
  • Goal Trilogy
  • Creed
  • Fight Club

Audience Profile

—As a football film, the target audience of the movie will be young male teenagers. The main reason being that most teenagers play football and always dream of becoming a footballer. Teenagers will be the primary audience as well as football fans. I would argue that the secondary audience of our film will be young adults. This is because the films' sub genre is drama, so they will take the film a bit more seriously compared to young teenagers who would mainly be going to the film because of its sports genre. We also believe the secondary audience of this film would be young adults because some of the issues in the film could be similar to things those people are currently going through/have gone through and they can relate to the charter in he film.

Budget

—The budget for our film is £3,500,000. We believe that it is a suitable amount in order to make a successful film and our target in the opening weekend is £1,500,000 and we hope the final total gross to be £4,000,000-£4,500,000. We hope our multiple production companies will market our film successfully as well as organizing for our film to feature at at least two film festivals, which would hopefully lead to a positive critic reception and nominations for awards.

Director

—The director of our film is Frank Darabont. We chose this director because he has proven himself as a very successful director with directing films and series such as The Shawshank Redemption and The Walking Dead (2010-2011). His successes in drama was vital to us because that is the main genre of our film and some of his other works have been with films with small budgets. This proves that he can make a good film with a small budget. His success with films and series with different sub genres also attracted us to use him because it proves that he is not limited to one sub genre and is very flexible.

Release Date

—We have chosen the release date for our film to be Friday 14th of April because it is during the easter holidays and therefore this will mean kids are off school so we hope that this will increase the gross overall and the gross during the opening weekend. We have also chosen this time of year because it is just before the summer, which means that film festivals will be looking to nominate films for awards. We hope that our film will be considered for nomination and even possibly have a chance at winning an award. This is because one of the main successes for an independent film is to feature at film festivals and receive awards. In addition, many film critics will be at the film festivals and independent films also look for positive critic reception.
